On 29 January 1910 at the Bar Borsa in Piazzetta delle Garzerie, the Associazione Calcio Padova was founded. Baron Giorgio Treves de'Bonfili was appointed president, Marquis Giuseppe Corradi vice-president. On 20 February, in a friendly match, the debut against Hellas Verona with a white-net draw at the "Giovan Battista Belzoni" field.
This was the beginning of the history of Padova, which lived its first days of glory back in the 1920s when the biancoscudato club was chosen to inaugurate the first Serie A single-round championship, then it would be Serie A also between '48 and '52. In this early part of the biancoscudato century, there are many legendary figures. One above all, Silvio Appiani, Padova's first star player who in the 1914/15 season dragged the team with his 18 goals in 14 matches.
On 20 October 1915, the young volunteer Appiani died on the Carso. His great talent was extinguished, and he will remain over the years as a symbol of youth and ardour for Padua football, immortalised in the concrete of the stadium that has been named after him since 1924.
